Tristania Cascades by DrewHopper Tristania Cascades by DrewHopper
Tristania Falls - Dorrigo World Heritage National Park, NSW Australia.

This was taken just after the rain had passed, there was quick a dense layer of mist hanging around the gorge, as the clouds opened up I was blessed with this gorgeous light which really illuminated the falls through the mist.

Hey Drew, this shot is amazing. The composition is what I like the best. One thing I noticed is it looks like you didn't use a Circ. Polarizer. I think it would have removed the shine on the rocks. Just an observation not a critique really. Great work.

I used a cpl, those rocks you are referring to are different from the foreground rocks, weird I know but I can't do anything about that.

Woah wicked comp but seems like you didnt use a cirpol? Wicked reflective highlights coming off the rock in the middle

Yes I used a circular polarizer here, it's weird cause those rocks you are referring to are different from the foreground rocks. I tried everything to get them looking as close as possible but no luck. Also those middle rocks are dry so they aren't reflective, its just the colour of the rocks.

Hmm...weird. Now that I look back again there are reflections on the rock next to the upper waterfall too. Maybe all the different rock angles only some were polarized. Hmm. I do like the comp but highlights are pulling my attention too much I feel...did you try dup layer and shadow/highlight tool...blend to liking?

Mate my post-processing skills are next to none, I can't stand working on a photo longer than 10 minutes so no I didn't try anything from what I usually do to my images in photoshop. I should probably learn a bit more about processing images, but so far I think I'm doing alright with basic adjustments :P

Aye...I spend 2/3 of my time or more in post. Hence I just posted images from 2007 that I went back and redid b/c my skills are way way better. You'll learn :-)

Really a wonderful scene, composed well with great light to top it off. Some of the rocks in the shot seem ever so slightly oversharpened though. But anyway, instant fave.
