The Flowing Never by DrewHopper The Flowing Never by DrewHopper
The Never Never creek flowing downstream after a heavy down pour this afternoon. I waited a good hour for the rain to ease off, thankfully it did whilst the light was still there. Surprisingly the water wasn't that cold, probably because the atmosphere was freezing so the water felt nice.

I'd love to use this as a background to something I intend to make. But of course I will understand if you say no.

It is very peaceful in a way. Yet I see it as the scene of a chase.

Are you on Photo.net as well?

What are you intending on making? No I'm not on Photo.net, I'm guessing you are though? :)

Well, I make what I call alternative comic pages. I don't actually create entire magazines, just covers etc. They are not mainstream. They are bondage. I have the idea of an escaped prisoner or the like. I don't actually make a target image in my mind. I start with a concept and it develops. Anyway, if that wouldn't be something you'd like it used for, I understand. It was just so perfect for what I thought of.

I have been on Photo.net. Thought perhaps I'd seen something of yours there. You are very good. I have my days, but I have seldom produced what I would call art with a lens-
In my opinion, you have.

Anyway. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Varth

Really nice flow to this, and the composition works well seeing as you were in the river.
Good light shining through after the rain as well mate, well captured.

I like the silky smooth flowing water and the composition which leafs the eye from the bottom right corner to the left and then up to the top right corner.

Good but standard...nothing really stands out in this one compared to other river shots. Messing w/ some processing would help a bit but overall comp is pretty standard :-P Hope you dont mind some ball bustin ;)

Standard yes but this spot is hard to get a shot that makes you go Wow. Appreciate the feedback :)

Ah, I think you are mixing your own personal emotions with quantitatively evaulating the photograph. Why I dont even look at most shots til weeks or months later. Regardless of how hard it is to get to a place the photo still has to stand on it's own. Unfortunately...no wow factor here for this guy ;) I might suggest going w/ some orton for the bg and accentuating the bg glow. Sorry for being so tough but someone's gotta do it ;-)

Giving it the orton effect would possibly benefit the scene yes but it would also be cheating if you ask me. I like to keep it as realistic as possible. Sure if the light was illuminating the scene then a slight orton effect would work well, and wouldn't be cheating but doing it to this image would be false. Although I might give it a shot just to see how it goes, haven't tried the orton effect before. Cheers.

Dont think of it as cheating...think of it as part of a creative vision. My favorite ansel quote goes something like 'the image is not what i saw but what i wanted it to be'. Plus orton is actually a slide technique so even less cheating b/c it's 'real' ;) Just friendly suggestions my man:)

p.s. i'd recommend messing around w/ dup layer and gaussian blur as there are lots of ways to achieve the effect. a good starting point

How's this for you [link] It was taken a few minutes before the last one so the light was out more on the mist, gave it a slight orton effect but with my own method in photoshop ;)

Yep...way better. Light, comp, more engaging. All around. Love the way the speckled rocks imitate the light green leaves. Good method too ;-) Nice job my man
