Pacific Eruption by DrewHopper Pacific Eruption by DrewHopper
Distant lightning streaks on the horizon, whilst the waves pound the rocky coastline off the Coffs Coast - New South Wales, Australia.

Just a tip that most of you should already know! Make sure you know the way back to the car when exploring new locations, or at least pack a torch! I wasn't expecting to stay til dark this afternoon, but the conditions forced me to wait it out til dusk when the lightning started crackin! Not the most enjoyable thing trekking around coastal headlands at night with no idea how to get back.. I ended up inches to slipping down this cliff! At least if I slipped someone would hopefully have found my camera and shared this photo in my memory :giggle:

The darkest parts of the shot are looking a little too black to me, like that rock in the water, otherwise very nice indeed... the horizon line doesn't bother me much!

They look a bit too dark on my end as well, will tone them back for print. Cheers!

Im going to be honest. Something is seriously off with this shot. I have a triple monitor setup and on every monitor the horizon line is VERY VERY sharp. Its so sharp it almost makes the sky look cut and pasted in. Tone down the sharpness!

It is sharp shot at f16, kept it crisp 100% for impact across the horizon where the lightning meets sea to frame the top thirds.

I have one of those laying around somewhere. I need one with adjustable light settings for light painting :P

Mine has a few different modes on it. It has one bigger led that has 3 settings of brightness,. then 2 smaller leds with their own 3 settings of brightness. Both led's also have an option to set them to blink mode.

I would get a Maglite for light painting, if you get the bigger one, it also doubles as a weapon!

Totally worth the wandering in the dark and the risk :D  The colours are awesome! Long exposures can seem repetitive - this stands out  :winner: nice 1!!

Cool, hey be careful man! I thought about making an electric torch or flashlight a basic part of my gear. Wouldn't be a bad idea Drew. And sure, your photos would live on if you took that plunge but who knows your best stuff could be yet to come! :)
